They might work, but you could make a more durable and slippery substitute from PTFE. It comes in a variety of thicknesses. I use it to make all manner of jigs and fixtures. You can usually buy offcuts fairly cheaply at your local plastic fabricator and you can work it with all the usual woodworking tools and machines.
