dan, sorry i was so hasty to respond with criticizm.. but reading your post, it appears that you are not a mechanically inclined individual.. nothing wrong with that, im not an expert engine builder either but..i can say Bob is.. he does this for a living.. its common knowlege that if the alternator belt breaks, then you will overheat the motor. this should be hammered into newbie vanagon owners heads before they even buy a vanagon.. i know i always explain to new vanagon owners not to ignore the idiot lights.. they are there for a reason. but Bon cannot be accountable for damage to the motor from you ignoring warning signs like idiot lights and ignoring his break-in periods for a new motor.. as for the oil drain plug leak, that is simple. just install a bigger or wider copper crush washer, or a slightly bigger drain bolt. the case drain hole may have been helicoiled at one point and the the hole enlarged slightly.. easy fix. anyway, i have heard plenty of people blowing their motors because they ignored warning signs.. but Bob isnt responsible for driver error. take care chris |
