A drive to the west coast can be done in 48 hours. I won't say you'll be awake afterwards. More sane folks spread that 48 hours across 5 or more days. With multiple drivers one can be sleeping in the back while the other drives, so you spend a continuous time span on the crossing. If you grossly exceed the speed limits you can cut the time down a bit more...assuming your vehicle will handle high speeds for such an event.
