That was my take as well. Head gaskets have nothing to do with oil leaks on a waterboxer. Front and rear main seals are not related to head gaskets. While Bob may be on the hook for oil leaks he can't be at fault for an ignored seized alternator that caused a blown engine when the belt stopped turning the water pump as well.

I was caravaning with a friend once when his exhaust header cracked very badly just before a major mountain grade on the trip home. I insisted on stopping and finding a welder so his recently rebuilt waterboxer would not be damaged on the 20 mile hill towing his trailer. His response was "it's under warranty so let's just go, plus I have AAA......"

A certain percentage of the population seem to think that a warranty should cover everything no matter what THEY do. Of course they are bitter when they find otherwise.
