FWIW, Our new 64 Bug cost about $1800 USD in Honolulu in 1964 & my first new car to moi, a 1971 Superbeetle w/ optional basket weave upholstery & FM radio & tax, license, etc was $2400+- in 71.

My first bus, a 1960 panel, bought in 1968 for $262.50 when I was 19, makes moi a spritely 57.75 years old now.

Tom B.-still looking for that 60 Panel which I sold for $600 a year later.
