The muffler they gave you is actually for a 72-74 Bus. The fresh air tubes will have to be modified slightly and maybe the muffler also to fit.

Just bought myself a muffler/exhaust from BOWOW, and it doesn't fit. It lines up with the heater boxes fine, but trying to tighten the nuts on it, the muffler jams against the steel tubes coming down through the tin to the heat exchangers for the interior heat ('80). I checked with the parts guy and and he says that muffler should bolt right on and they have sold it for years. The system that was on this van was the one with the crossover pipe and cat (US federal style). I brought the van from the US, so did they have shorter heater boxes to allow space for the crossover pipe?

Nathaniel
