John,

That sounds like my story. I was in a newish 5 series BMW instead. I was stopped at the infamous "Hospital Curve" on US 101 going north to San Francisco. It was rush hour and nobody was able to rush as the freeway looked like a multicolored parking lot. In my rear view comes this ever growing image of light silver Honda Accord. I turned on my emergency flasher hoping the idiot in back would notice that traffic was not moving. Amazing how well the Bimmer handled a 55 MPH projectile. Lucky he saw my flashers and slammed on the brakes. He was initially going over 70mph with an impending meeting on his mind.

I don't own very many VW's so I do not have much to relate other than they sure are the darnedest little buggers. (no pun intended)
