It could, but would be just as worthless as it is on a standard propane tank. Propane changes from a liquid to gas as it is used. That gauge measures pressure. Until the propane is almost all the way gone (no liquid left), the pressure is directly related to temperature, and has almost nothing to do with how much liquid is left in the tank. A gauge which says everything is fine until you're 10 minutes from empty is pretty worthless, IMHO.
