Well, it's been a while but I'm getting ready to let go of my air cooled Vanilla '80 Vanagon L. I went out and got an every day small car this past summer and I've got a friend who's retiring to out of state...he bought a Eurovan a while ago and never drives his '91 Vanagon. It's in nice shape and I'm going to buy it from him for my future Vanagon needs.

My '80 isn't anything special but it has been running recently and is a worthwhile truck for the odd bit of hauling and has some good stuff in it for a parts source.

In the past 7-8 years:

-- I've had 3 CVs put in it. -- I put a starter/solenoid and ignition switch put in -- I put the starter solenoid relay in to finally solve the issue -- it currently has recent new front brakes including a new rotor in the box ($100) I bought but didn't need to install. -- I think it needs rear brakes -- it needs a clutch slave cylinder and should have the front clutch done too. -- all the glass is good -- the upholstery is there but old -- it's tan over brown -- I've put several vacuum parts in it -- I replaced 3 injectors with rebuilts -- I replaced the gas tank and most of the gaskets....it still has a tiny leak if you fill it all the way up but no gas smell....probably still leaking from a gasket or vapor system -- it's got some rust around windows and on surface but seams don't seem too bad -- it's got damage to the right rear quarter ahead of the wheel and including the lower rear portion of the sliding door

It currently has no tags on it....when the clutch slave went last spring I took it off the road.

Anyone interested in the Baltimore or surrounding area thinking of getting an air cooled that could be put right or wanting a parts van who wants more info can email me privately.

(If I end up parting it out, I figure I can get $600-800 and would then let go of the rest to whoever or send it to the yard as it would still have some pieces they could get off (transaxles, transmission, glass and some body parts). I'll consider reasonable offers that don't require me to get my hands dirty.)

--

Wil
