Thanks, everyone who sent me this info. Their instructions are clear and
straightforward.
I don't use my gmail account as a rule. However I am having trouble with
some organizations whose firewalls seem to block email from my alum.mit.edu
forwarding thing. Mostly forwarding works very well, so I don't want to
change it. However for those folks, until they can get my email listed as
acceptable in their system I want to be able to send email from gmail.
Hopefully they will use the reply-to that my email will give them, and
answer to my alum address - but just in case, I want to make sure that if
anyone emails me at gmail it will get downloaded.
Microsoft Outlook is just as good at gmail at sorting out listservs or
anything else I want it to sort. And I don't want to save my emails on the
web - I want them on my computer.

:::Joy,
:::
:::Go to your gmail setting page and go to the Forwarding and POP tab. There
:::is
:::a link to using POP with your gmail account.
:::
:::Alternately, you could simply forward your gmail messages to your primary
:::account you use with Outlook.
:::
:::I will say that I don't know why you would use outlook with your gmail
:::account. The gmail interface is really excellent for listserv use.

:::To anyone who can help -
:::
:::I'm trying to figure out how to get email sent to my gmail account to

:::Email address: hecht.joy@gmail.com - that's my

:::HTTP mail service provider: "other" - the options are "hotmail",

:::Server URL: I tried "gmail.com" and I tried

:::In the "more settings" - "connection" - option I tried with "my LAN" and

:::sometimes I'm on someone else's wifi. If I'm already connected, does it
