So, after 15 intense days of work on my van, today, i was ready to order my famous "Tornado Red" paint to start the engine bay (sadly, i will have to stop my project for 3 days as i have to do another engine)... EXPENSIVE!!!! 248$ per gallon + cat + diluent + (product that help base coat stick to primer and make a smooth finish(long story)... sorry, the name in French give me no result in English, it is called: adhérent) + clear coat + catalyst + diluent = you don't want to know the total price!!! here is the cool picture, as i had no idea what Tornado Red was exactly: http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge144.jpg So the work began this morning!!! (excuse the poor quality "color wise" of my compact Canon DC, i will take the BIG BOY next time, i have 5 digital camera, the color is more like a tool box, a bit darker then the picture here!!! anyway, i'm VERY happy with this color... BUT, that is the first and LAST time i change color on a van!!!) http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge141.jpg http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge142.jpg http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge143.jpg (the green stuff in ZINC) http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge145.jpg http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge146.jpg (base coat) http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge149.jpg (first clear coat) http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge151.jpg (starting last clear coat) http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge152.jpg (last clear coat) http://www.benplace.com/85rouge/rouge148.jpg All pictures of the project here: http://www.benplace.com/85westy2.htm Later...
