With only a rear heater you'll be missing the defrost.
Out the right side of the front heater box there should be two short molded
hoses for coolant in and out. The in will have the valve. Both are short and
should be relatively accessible from under the dash, correct me if I'm wrong
here people, but even if they aren't you can add some extra tubing to make
them accessible. Then when it comes time you just hook 'em up without having
to remove the dash again.
On a side note, check the fan/motor of your replacement heater box before
you re-install. I didn't and as soon as I switched it on "SQUEEEEEELL!!!".

mmm.... was thinking to save time by installing core with hoses et al
while dash off so I could hook up to rest of cooling system when doing
swap. This is based upon limited knowledge. i.e. not certain on length
of hoses that would be sitting around idle til swap.
Of course I could avoid that hassle and just install a rear heater core.
