Preventing theft is pretty difficult. A determined thief will take a car, alarm or no, because they know most folks don't pay attention to alarms anymore. As the real objective must be to recover the stolen vehicle before it gets chopped and sold off, LoJack or other similar GPS locating system is probably the best thing going.
