i'm assuming this is what happened... seems consistent with the metallic "rattling" sound that i've been hearing while slipping the clutch for a few weeks. still, i'd like to positively rule out a hydraulic problem. i know there is enough fluid in the reservoir to cover the intake hoses for both the brake and clutch system. is there some spec on the amount of movement i should be able to observe at the slave cylinder?

still, i'm figuring i'll have to take the van in somewhere; i'm not sure a clutch job is something i want to tackle while parked on the streets of san francisco while the parking tickets pile up. anyone know what happened to tassi down in colma? they don't answer their phone and the web page seems to be down, too. seems like maybe my next best bed is fred's garage down in redwood city. anyone have recommendations for or against that shop?

Ben.
