Nice pictures, thanks. I think you have the description wrong. If I'm not mistaken, the pump is adjusted by turning the piece shown in DSCF0253. That changes the volume which fills up on each plunger stroke. The ball bearing is just a one-way check valve. If you loosen it, it will leak (note the copper sealing gasket in DSCF0244). The piece shown in DSCF0253 is sealed by the o-ring, and can therefore be adjusted.
