If price wasn't an object, I'd go with the Michelin Agilis. However it was
an object 2 years ago when I purchased the Yokohama Y356 (D). The $69 ones!
I have been happy with them, since I finally started driving my Van again
(no pun intended). The motor failed 1 week after putting on the new Yoko's
(2+ years ago), and I just got my motor replaced this past fall.
The tires ride nice, low road noise, and stable. I also changed the Shocks
to HD Bilsteins too. So, I'm not sure if the tires or the shocks are making
the biggest difference, but the ride is very nice. I had the wrong tires on
prior, and it was a thrill ride, all over the road and dangerous (glad to
see you are looking at www.Tirerack.com ) BTW. Wal-Mart will mount and
balance "carry in" tires for $11 a tire, including disposal of your old
ones.
I have heard that the Yoko's don't last very long 30k miles, and now wish I
had spent a bit more for the Michelin Agilis. As I plan on keeping my Westy
forever! Since I don't drive it in the Michigan winters any longer, the
summer tires are fine. Either size is fine; you really won't see a

The 185/"80"/R14's were standard eq. for my 84 Westy.
I did notice that there were only 2 Vanagon reviews for the Conti's, but
they are German like our Vans! Still, ratings and comments on the Tirerack
site wouldn't sway me to buy them yet.

Thanks to the endless help of the list and the archives, all the
various failing points have been resolved, and today we found out that
it "passed, pending new tires" due to dryrot. I have the stock 14''
wheels, and am looking to buy either the Yokohama Y356 or the
Continental Vanco 8 's from TireRack. Costwise, they're very similar
and they both have similar specs. Reviews of both seem to indicate
they're bad in the snow.....ok. So, which do people use? 185/OR14 D or
195/75R14D?
Anyone have a strong preferance?
