Not sure how that would happen. If the fluid gets past the slave cylinder seal, it is basically now external to the cylinder. But I know better than to RULE anything out...

I've replaced several slave cylinders that were not leaking, and were bad, so don't overlook the slave cylinder even if you don't have a leak there.
