I had a Bay window (78) and now drive an 84 Westy. there is no comparison
for driving in the snow. The reason is simple --- on the Bay bus the weight
is 80% on the back wheels and 20% on the front; the Vanagon is 50/50. The
Bay wins hands down. If the truth be told I loved the BayWindow --- though I
love the Vanagon too. I agree with Chris Gronski --- who said "don't give up
the Syncro" although it was me who put Chris onto his Syncro after I decided
not to buy it -- go figure.
