I've been held at gunpoint once, by a cop, and it was at a border crossing from Switzerland into France. I had left my passport in my hotel in Geneva. The other two people in the car had their passports on the dashboard, he could see one was missing and pulled us in. The guy was on the phone with some superior while his rifle was in a sling over his shoulder, but pointed right at me the whole time through the window of the rented car. He acted as if he spoke no english and made me speak french to defend myself, and after about twenty minutes he let us go and then said "I think that if I come to Alabama I will need more with me than my driver's license."

After the other two passengers changed underwear, we were on our way. He was awfully free with the way he wielded that rifle at us, I'll say that.
