It could be a plugged catalytic converter or a fuel delivery problem. Check the fuel pressure under load. Remove the cat and inspect it. If all that remains is a golf ball size piece, then it self destructed and may have also clogged the muffler.

Hi all,

I am having an issue with my 85 Westy with a 2.1 wbx and digijet fi. The idle is fine and power is good below about 3000 to 3200 rpms. Once I hit 3000 or 3200 rpms I lose power. This is most pronounced in third and fourth gears and goiing up hills. The timing seems ok; it is set at +/- 3 degrees btdc. I am pretty sure the ecu is good. I guess I can start by fine tuning the timing. It has new plugs, air filter, recent oil change and new filter. The fuel pump has been getting louder recently (last 3 months or so); I just ordered a new one and fuel filter (metal cannister type) for Van-Cafe and will install it when it arrives. Could this be a problem with the throttle body switch? I put in a new throttle body switch about six months ago. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Sam
