I wouldn't use an automated car wash much below 30 degrees F (-1 C) Some won't even be open if it is in the 20's.

They are somewhat effective, but be aware that a heavy salt encrustation may take multiple washes to remove the stuff, and even then you'll likely miss some. They are better than letting it rust your vehicle.
