I also like the Coleman 424 for all the reasons listed so far. It
fulfills my basic requirements for a camp stove. It is robust and
durable. It has a duel fuel capability (my van, Coleman stove, and MSR
XGK II stove all run on the same fuel). It, like my MSR, is completely
field maintainable. It also simmers pretty well. Another thing to bear
in mind, and I could be mistaken about this, but it is my understanding
that those small butane/propane cannisters are not recyclable which is
important to me. Additionally, the colder it gets the less efficient the
butane/propane cannister stoves become.
