So i have that in the shop for a cloggued tank problem, was i amazed when i tried the van... men, a fifth gear???? is that a joke!!! no, it was there for real, more amaze to see no fuel punp under wile looking for a no start problem... and again... amazed to see no injection system in the back!!! funny, this may have been sold as a cheap vanagon version!!!!!

If you look at all pictures, see the aircooled semi exhaust system! stock! This engine is is a poor state, but, it still pull more than any vanagon i have try. i was able to cruise at 120kmh (75mph) under 3700-3800rpm (or so).

This is a "France/Switzerland" van, 2.1, carburated and yes, a 5speed tranny. It's an 86 Vanagon, now, it as been converted to a westy camper. This van was a circus van for most of it's life. It was also pulling an heavy trailer gypsy wagon (sleep 6) in the steep hill of Switzerland. Who said that vanagon aren't tough.; All paper and engine condition show that is the original engine. Now, why the heck this tranny was not standard in NA.

Benny Boy, that's the standard issue Euro version Vanagon. WE NEVER GOT THEM ! Ralf my German bud can bring one over for you if you want. He's going there next week and coming back with more vans the end of February. Also, someone down in Maine ? is importing used 5 speeds from Germany. I've lost track of his name but can find out as he's a LiMBO member and has a Vanagon garage down there in Maine somewhere.

Cheers,
