I understand that the rate of gun crime went DOWN in Florida when the concealed carry law was passed. As a previous poster mentioned, most gun crime in the U.S. is directly related to the drug trade. If you avoid those situations it is highly unlikely you will be affected by gun crime on your trip. Anthony '89 Syncro GL (Hidalgo)

No, certainly not. Baltimore has the dubious distinction of having the highest per capita homicide rate in the US, or at least did recently. But, this violence is largely young black men killing young black men in the dope trade. Unless you plan on touring and camping in the the ghettos of US cities, it's relatively easy to avoid gun violence. I do it all the time.

Now, FLorida and Texas with their liberal carry permits are other matters altogether...; ]
