Turns out there was a problem with either the new cap or rotor; replaced them both again and vroom. What a PITA. Still not running as good as it was though; I can still hear it missing a bit and had to increase idle speed setting. Point gap okay and timing bang on. All four cylinders firing same.

The strange thing was when I put in the hot-spark electronic points, Idle speed was higher and it ran smoother, but just had this habit of occasionally cutting out cause the electronic points are faulty and so I'm returning them. The stock points are new. Maybe there is something wrong with the new points. (Don't you love it when you can't trust new parts) I don't have a dwell meter but if points are gapped .016, that should be okay shouldn't it?
