I have a good friend who has been a near life-long Toyota fan. He found out about the Toureg a few years back and bought one. Loved it. He was so turned off by the arrogant dealer that he sold the car and took a loss to do it. He loves VWs but he hates the VW dealer here.

My own experience at that dealer where I bought my 90 were not good. They pretended not to know about the head gasket problem while the car was under warranty for it. This went on for two years, me brining the car in for the blinking light and leaving without a fix, told that it was probably the dash electrics--"keep it topped up and don't worry about it, it's not worth fixing." After it was out of warranty, suddenly they figured it out, like magic.

On that day, I took it to the VW shop I'm using now (their shop truck was and is a vanagon, a good sign). They immediately knew what the problem was and fixed it.

I do all my own work now because of this list. But I wouldn't buy a VW product that I needed the dealer's help on. That dealership is still a place I don't like to go into unless I absolutely have to. So I guess I'll always drive a vanagon or older model if I want to drive a VW. I just don't want to have anything to do with the dealer, because of my direct knowledge of their past activities.

Why do I hear problems like this about nearly all VW dealers? Are there any that people trust and LIKE?
