Subject: AW Electric Question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

There is a thread going on the Adventurewagen list that isn't getting answered but I'm sure somone here can answer. The individual has an '87 AW that lost an alternator. A VW dealership replaced it but could not reattach one wire, said that when attached to the alternator the alternator 'reved out of control'. The dealership commented that the old alternator was not to factory specs. This AW also has a solar panel. The owner also says this wire (orange leading to a red) seems to connect to some kind of battery separator. The description sounds like the AW has a Surepower Isolator that requires a modification to the connection at the regulator on the alternator and to get the charging system back to where it was that mod needs to be made before the wire is reconnected. Can someone confirm that the '87 AWs were wired that way?
