<P>Three weeks ago, my 90 GL did the exact same thing. It was a cold morning, but it's been cold all winter, not anything unusual on the day it refused to start. I replaced the starter, it worked fine, three or four times, then the same issue. I then blamed the starter switch, and replaceded it. (Thanks to everyone who guided me through the removal of my steering wheel) Again, problem fixed, for a while, then same symptom. I blamed the starter again, and my local Checker traded me for a new one and in it went...problem fixed for a day, then no start AGAIN. Zoltan advised me on cleaning all my grounds, which I did and again, problem fixed.....for a day. Then same symptom. Now I'm getting angry! Thanks to the guy at Checker Autoparts and his computer, he suggested I check the "neutral safety switch" located in the footwell near
the top of the clutch pedal. I actuated it a few times and WALLA! the van started. A few days later, the same dead symptoms. This time, I reached down and flicked the switch a few times and again, the van started. It has started twice a day for over a week now....knock on wood.</P>
<P>The moral of this story? I'm not sure. I don't know if I've fixed anything yet. I can't find the stupid switch in my Bentley, and Yes, I spent several hours pouring over the schematic section of the book. I would suggest that anyone with dead starter symptoms, at least try the clutch safety switch trick. Who knows if I needed to replace my starter (twice) and ignition switch and clean all my grounds? Isn't this fun????</P>
