This is the way the dynamic oil pressure system works. It checks the oil pressure on deceleration at between 2000 ~ 3000 rpm. If the pressure is not correct the alarm sounds. blipping the throttle is revving the engine, revving the engine is boosting the oil pressure because the oil pump is connected to the engine which is now revving higher so the pump volume and pressure increase. This does not mean there is not a problem. A true check of the oil pressure is needed in these circumstances. This is why I advocate having a "real" oil pressure gauge installed on the dash so you can actually see what's going on. Once the oil pressure has been verified correct then you can go looking for other causes of the problem such as faulty hi oil pressure sender, wiring, dynamic oil pressure receiver, oil, filter, etc. Cheers, Frank Condelli Almonte, Ontario, Canada '87 Westy, '90 Carat, '87 Wolfsburg (Forsale) & Lionel Trains (_Collection for sale_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/trainsal.htm) ) Vanagon/Vanagon Westfalia Service in the Ottawa Valley _Frank Condelli & Associates_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/busindex.html) _Vanagon Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/stebro.htm) _BusFusion_ (http://members.aol.com/BusFusion/bfhome.htm) a VW Camper camping event, Almonte, ON, June 07 ~ 10, 2007 |
