The major components of WD-40 are Stoddard solvent (50%) and mineral oil (15%), the remainder being propellant and inert ingredients. The Stoddard solvent will attack nitrile rubbers and eventually dry them out. Not good to use around anything that has a rubber seal - most O rings are nitrile compounds, I believe.
