The Castrol Syntec 5w-50 is a very wide range oil. I know a number of folks that use it. I have not used it extensively my self nor done any oil testing on it. My only comments would be that it is not a true synthetic made from synthetic stocks. It is process, (hydro cracked) from conventional oils. They were taken to court for this but they prevailed. I am a little bitter at Castrol as they convinced Allison to use their Transynd ATF in their automatic transmissions. In order to maintain the warranty on my motor home transmission, I have to use this stuff. Any concerns with this oil? Other's experiences? What is the "oil brand and weight of choice for all season application" in a 2.1L? |
