I have made the trip many times, but as it is now I would say less than 40% is really still there. Mostly, just random stretches with no real extended connectivity. It is still a nice trip, and I will be doing it again this next summer. FWIW, my first trip was in 1966 in a 66 Chevy, when I was 18.

Hey just curious. Has anyone on the list done a Route 66 trip? We have been talking about it. I understand that if you get the right maps and plan properly that 85% of the road is still driveable. I think that could make for a real nice laid back bus trek. For those who have any input, suggestions, or warnings against?
