Hi: I don't know Neil, but my guess is that Apple wouldn't be so stupid to allow you to create movies that older versions could watch. They would want everyone to be forced to upgrade. I just downloaded QT PRO 7.0 on Limewire but it didn't come with serial number, so until I find that I don't dare open it. Chances are I would erase my QT 6.5 PRO and still not have a PRO version 7.0. I am a Mac user from Apple II days but I hate them with a passion. I can't code in UNIX so I dearly miss OS 9.0. . I still have a beautiful Tangerine Clamshell, with OS 9.2.2 but my active G4 iBook uses 10.3.9 and I am afraid to upgrade to 10.4 as I will lose a number of purchased programs that will not transfer.
