My local mechanic hit a deer during a test drive to check out my 91 Vanagon GL prior to a long trip. His insurance company didn't really have much experience with the Vanagon, so they went on-line to determine the "Real Value. " They came up with a figure of $7,000 and wrote a check for $3,000.

The minor bodywork is complete and now it's being painted. Hope this helps. PAUL -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf Of John Lauterbach Sent: Sunday, February 04, 2007 8:44 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: VANAGON INSURANCE

I had same problem with my '84 after I had exterior restored and had done much on mechanical side. My independent insurance agent suggested I get van appraised by recognized car appraiser. Appraiser put $6000 value on van and insurance company accepted that value.
