A friend, very active in the open source community, recommends Ubuntu as being quite friendly.

My friend Phil, LOVES FreeBSD and considers it superior to all other forms of Linux. Give it a try. Another one is Unbuntu, do a search for it. They will send you free CD's as well. Courtney
