Subject: Total restoration cost!

So, today, i am at my 140th hours into my Tornado Red van project (70 hours per week): http://www.benplace.com/85westy2.htm

total investment (MY COST PRICE On all mechanical part!!! NOT YOUR PRICE), no labor included, i paid that van 1500$ USD (a joke), 2500$CAD when in the shop (Customs fee /importation /taxe), so, the total investment is now today at $15,500 CAD COST, no labor!, paint, gadget, everything pretty much included, i have about 80-100 hours left, i think... (so let's say $35/hour on a big project like that = 8400$ of labor, normal price on parts, add 4000$, remove cost of van...)

So before you think of restoring your/a van from bumper to bumper, you could easily end up spending over 25-30k with labor.... to get an 80% restored Vanagon Camper. Now, what can you buy for that price? an 95-97 Eurovan with 100k miles? No roadtrek 17' for that price, more like in the 40' k.... i wonder?, remember that most (not to say all) mechanical parts were replaced. Remember that i'm changing color (i will never do that again...never! well...) and only that is a 15-20% more labor

I wonder? is it too expensive? (i was looking t some GoWesty price tag on some of their van...)

Lunch time post, hi hi hi....

Ben
