Tires can get into a "wha-wha-wha"mode, especially if they are beginning to wear or are developing a ply separation problem or aren't inflated properly.

Tire can sometimes go click-click-click if they pick up are rock or debris in the tread.

CV bearings are much more noticeable, and are more often reported as a knocking sound rather than a clicking sound. You can check your CV's on the stanbdard two-wheel drive vanagons by getting in a parking lot somewhere, and turning the steering wheel all the way to the stops, then driving in a circle while holding the wheel tight. That will more often than not tell the tale. No knocking - CV's OK. Knocking - replace CV's.

Wheel bearings will usually growl before giving up and acting funny Most common check on bearing condition is to grasp the top and bottom of the tire - while off the ground of course - and rock the tire = top out, bottom in, then reverse. A worn wheel bearing will allow the wheel to move a good bit.at the hub.

Since you have had opposing opinions given, take the van back to a shop, tell the mechanic what you have encountered, as ask him to check it for you and SHOW you what is happening when he checks it. This way you learn about the mechanic - which is important - about the method of checking the bearings so you can do it your self some time or at least know when someone is doing it right or wrong in the future. and y ou can see for yourself if there is a problem or not.

Good luck,

Regards,
