The Castrol Syntec 5w-50 is a very wide range oil. I know a number of folks that use it. I have not used it extensively my self nor done any oil testing on it. My only comments would be that it is not a true synthetic made from synthetic stocks. It is process, (hydro cracked) from conventional oils. They were taken to court for this but they prevailed.

I am a little bitter at Castrol as they convinced Allison to use their Transynd ATF in their automatic transmissions. In order to maintain the warranty on my motor home transmission, I have to use this stuff.

I always ran Castrol, QT, 5W50 Full Syntec Motor Oil; it seemed to cover me well in the winter as well as the summer in my 1.9L WBX.

Any concerns with this oil? Other's experiences?

What is the "oil brand and weight of choice for all season application" in a 2.1L?
