This is not entirely true. While there may be some oil pressure problems related to some aftermarket oil filters there certainly are more oil filters on the market that work properly than the OEM ones. All my personal Vanagons have never used an OEM filter and I have never seen a problem related to the filters I use, my Westy has approximately 500,000 km and I've owned it for 13 years using Canadian Tire house brand filters, Quaker State filters and now Hengst filters. Yes I'm on the second engine. Original engine went 380,00 km before it cracked a head and I replaced it five years ago with a Boston Bob Big Valve. The filters I'm using now for myself and all my customers are > Oil filter, Hengst, H14W04 ~ (MAHLE/KNECHT 0C 108) -$8.45, from my _Vanagon Items Forsale_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/sales.htm) webpage. Never have I seen a problem with oil pressure that was related to these filters.
