Subject: Owners of aircooled Westfalia Vanagons
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hello there.I recently found a 1980 Westfalia aircooled in a junkyard. The sink cabinet door has a certification paper attached. It may be a very, very early Westfalia Vanagon, and I am trying to verify if it is. The serial number on the upper right part of the paper says A-0004. I am trying to determin if this is the 4th westy of 1980,the first year. I want to eliminate the build date of the chassis as the criteria of sequence.

Can you please look at the ceritfication paper that is on the rear of the sink cabinet door of your Westy? Send a picture if possable,and/or the chassis builld date.

Is suspect that a 1981 Westy will have a serial number begining with B, an 82. C.I suspect that the Westfalia serial number corrosponds to the VIN number year.On the VIN number, the letter A denotes 1980 .The letter B denotes 1982, and so on.

Your help here will be greatly appreciated.I will report to the list what I find out.

Thanks, Roger
