Dan,

Sealing up the footwell vents is fairly easy. If you remove the plastic cover in front of the shifter, you can look up and see the vent flaps. As you move the third climate control lever you can see them open and close. You can seal around the area with any standard foam weatherstipping material. When I did mine it took about 15 minutes.

Here's the problem though. You can get the footwell vents to work as the did when they were new. However, closing them forces the excess air to the next leaking location which is the defroster vents and to properly fix those you have to remove the dash.

The moral of the story is that you can fix the foot vents quickly, easily, and cheaply but it just moves the problem.

I want to improve the efficiency of my A/C. A significant problem in the summer is the amount of air leaking into the cabin through the vents intended for heater output. The worst are the vents near the floor on both the driver and passenger sides.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem or even attempted to address it? Before I dive into this, I want to know if it's a big project or a relatively minor fix.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer any help. Dan R.
