Of course you can't get motivated; I wouldn't be building a 160 horse motor for my kids' rides either! As a parent, 40 HP would be plenty good enough. :)

I had thought that all Canadian VWs got the 1300 after 1967 with the 1500 available on some. My Mom's brand new '65 had the 1200 of course, my Aunt's '66 had the big motor. Her previous car, a '61 convertible, had hardly any floor in the back. Us kids would peer down at the road whizzing beneath us as we pounded down the road. Five cousins in the back, long before "Safety Belts" were popular.
