Its pretty good except for the 75 mile stretch that seems like 750! That long section in lodgepole pine where you can't see the forest for the trees and the road is just bendy enough to keep you from getting a lengthwise view as well.

Like travelling in a bark capsule.

I love the part where it skirts the shoulder of Mt Shasta, long though the climb may be in the Van, and the approach to Bend, Oregon and the kids liked the forestry campground in Deschutes that was positively over-run with dozens of adorably cute ground squirrels.
