Re: Coolant leak in cold storage

The leak if from the head gaskets will not stop. It may look as if it did but you can bet your last dollar that it will come back. Why ? Once coolant get trapped in between the gasket and the head the water evaporates and corrosion starts. Once enough of the aluminum of the head has been eaten away the leak will not stop ! That's why it is imperative to install the gaskets properly and use a sealant that will always keep the gasket attached to the head. I just pulled apart a 2.1 yesterday for leaking gaskets that some supposedly VW mechanic around Toronto put together a year or so ago to FIX the head gasket leak. No sealant of any kind was used. Not a trace of any kind of sealant ! The gaskets were leaking from every conceivable place along their perimeter. Unbelievable !
