... and apparently it did so because it was coated with a flammable sealant- had nothing per se to do with the hydrogen. My grandfather was on the ground there when it happened- it made quite an impression on him.

I once happened to be looking in the right direction and saw a battery explode in a Jeep (hey, maybe it runs in the family). I have no idea why it happened of course, but it knocked a couple of people to the ground and the hood of the Jeep landed about 15 feet away. Sometimes I wonder if my wife is riding around on some German engineer's idea of a kind of a Russian Roulette ejection seat.
