Howdy Folks,
I've got a 1986 Syncro Westy for sale. This is a wonderful Vanagon, in very
good condition, with nice extras.

This week I had the Vanagon serviced, repaired, and inspected at Fine Tuning
Performance here in Seattle. Chris, the shop owner, used to be on the
Vanagon list, and he owns a Syncro Westy of his own. He knows what he is
talking about. Most recommended items were corrected.
This Vanagon only needs a rear main and some CV boots and it is ready for
anything.
Please see my Samba ad for pictures and details.
If anyone on here is a member of they Syncro list, or any other Vanagon
list, please feel free to cross-post this e-mail there.
$19,500
This Vanago is located in Seattle. E-mail for more details.
Here is a copy of the ad:

1986 Westfalia Syncro VW Vanagon. This is a very nice Syncro Westy. It is in
wonderful condition. Maintenance has just been performed. A reputable shop
performed an inspection of the van. The mechanic is very familiar with
Vanagons (the shop owner owns a Syncro Westy too). Overall it is in very
good condition.
The van has 115,800 miles on the odomer. This is accurate and true mileage.
The 2.1 liter engine is mated to a smooth shifting transmission (Low + 4
forwad gears), that operates flawlessly. Three of the rear CV boots are
worn. The mechanic said that the tears were near the inner ends of the
boots, and the joints have not yet begun to fling grease from the boot.
This Vanagon received a tune-up, oil and filter change, and an inspection
the week of February 5, 2007. The skylight has been replaced. New front
brake pads were installed. The horn was repaired. A new windshield was
installed. Various other inspections and adjustments were performed. The
matching tires are in great shape.
The experienced Vanagon mechanic that inspected the van found no coolant
leaks anywhere on the van. No body rust was noted. Recent service included
tune-up (spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, plug wire set, air filter,
fuel filer, german oil filter), and adjustment of throttle switches.
This Vanagon has been lovingly owned by experienced Vanagon owners. They
have attended to most every need this van has had. There is also lots of
extra equipment. The van sits on four VW factory alloy wheels. A fifth VW
factory alloy wheel is fitted with a spare and mounted on the rear of the
van. The power mirrors work as designed. The brown interior is immaculate
and matches the champagne exterior. The additional forward-facing middle
seat is included. Along with that seat are the floor rails that are used
when the seat is removed. The lock for the rear differential works as
designed.
There is a front receiver hitch that was used for mounting a bicycle carrier
(carrier not included). In addition, rails are mounted on the top of the van
for a Thule cargo box. The box is in new, minty fresh condition. A sturdy
ladder/spare tire carrier have been added to the rear of the van. Screens
are present for the sliding windows. Windows are tinted, and the tint is in
very good condition. The stripe around the exterior of the Vanagon is
reflective. At night is reflect on-coming lights for additional safety.
A new, modern stereo has been installed. It is a very nice unit. It includes
inputs for an auxiliary source (along with a long cable for plugging in an
iPod, MP3 player, etc), and the Sirius satellite radio. Infinity speakers
are fitted in the front doors, while Alpine speakers are in the rear. In
addition, there is a JL Audio sub-woofer. The sub has its own amp. You will
be traveling in style with this music system.
Shortcomings are few. The mechanic did say that a new rear main seal is
needed. Some oil has leaked, but the clutch is not oil coated and does not
slip. In addition, the rear CV boots (mentioned above) are in need of
replacement. The CV boots and the rear main seal are items that can be
addressed at the same time. There are also a few small tears on the right
side of the pop-top canvas (see pictures).
This is truly a rare Syncro Westy. As you will see in the pictures, the
interior is in wonderful condition. All original equipment is in place. The
van has been well cared for. The mechanic that did the work would be happy
to speak with an SERIOUS potential buyers. This van needs little. It has
been loved and well cared for its entire life.
