Some think igorance is bliss - or at least as in the days of old if the slaves are kept ignorant, they could be controlled. NPR and PBS - both wonderful educational and informational tools - are targets by certain of the "Powers that Be" in Washington to have their funding cut or eliminated. Thus the ignorance factor.
