Even with all assembled correctly, it takes a lot of torque to rotate the clutch lever down if doing it by hand. Even with leverage added. Having said as much, if clutch pedal isn't moving, it's likely something isn't quite right inside housing. Have you had someone else try to depress clutch pedal while you watch slave/clutch arm? To make sure slave is "trying" to move? (not sure how much, if any, movement you'd see, but it's easy to do this) Just a thought. Neil. 81 Westy

The slave cyclinder is connected to the clutch lever and the clutch lever freely rotates up when I disconnect it but I can't get it to budge down. I'm going to apply some force with a cheater bar but access is difficult. Looks like I might be dropping the tranny once again :( Uuughhh. > > Thanks for your help. > > Tom > > > > ---- Hans Achter <hansachter@hotmail.com> wrote: > > Sounds like you forgot to install the throwout bearing. > > Or possibly the actuator arms are not engaged into the throwout bearing > > correctly. > > The slave cylinder pushrod is connected onto the clutch release arm? > > -Hans > > East Coast Vanagon > > http://www.vanaru.com > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Tom Runyon" <trunyon1@COX.NET> > > To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> > > Sent: Wednesday, February 14, 2007 1:42 PM > > Subject: stuck or frozen clutch > > > > > > >I have re-joined the vanagon list serve after realizing I can't do it > > >alone.
