Hi Dave, The clutch lever rotates on two release shaft bushings. I think the clutch lever can be removed fairly easily by removing a circlip holding it in place. It could be, however, that your release shaft bushings may be worn rather than the clutch lever. I don't think the release shaft bushings can be removed without taking out the tranny. Refer to Bentley repair group 35 for an exploded view of the clutch lever/release shaft assembly. Tom Runyon 90 Syncro Westy "Ruby" Question for the list masters. Last time I had my van in the shop, the mechanic said the clutch lever has play because the hole in the lever gets worn over time to an egg shape and the lever moves there before it begins to engage the clutch. That got me thinking maybe there is a clever fix for this problem that doesn't involve pulling and replacing the lever which sounds like an unpleasant job. Is there a simple vanagonlist fix for this? Thanks Dave in Denver 91 syncro |
