I move my Sirius from vehicle to vehicle. I have the small one that
looks like a radar detector as you really only listen to about 5 channels
after the initial toy factor goes away.
In my Westfalia, with
the high roof, I put the antenna on a steel licence plate in the storage
compartment above the driver and passenger. The signal goes through
the fiberglass with no problems at all. On my TriStar, I just stick
it on the roof on the passenger side.
No special upgrades are
needed to the power, I can run the receiver all weekend and the better
still has enough poop to start the engine on Monday morning.
Tires make little difference, however seeing how my Westfalia has 31s,
it makes the receiver a little closer to the satellites and the signal is
somewhat better than it is in my TriStar with 29" tires. I can
hardly wait to try it in my LT 4x4 when it gets here as it has 35"
tall tires.
As the Vanagon is a quality German made
vehicle, I don't think it would explode at all if it was packed with
explosives - it's just too tough. Check out the Gootube video of the
suicide bomber in the VW Polo... poor poor guy... Because the
Vanagon can contain a huge explosion, putting a small nozzle on the rear
of it and filling it with salami like the Myth Busters did would result in
a far superior boost rocket for the shuttle than the current ones they are
using. An almost zero chance of a Challenger like explosion -
especially if you were to use Oktoberfest sausage on those cold
mornings. For Mars missions, Currywurst would have that extra little
kick needed to get out of the Earth's gravity.
As for James
Brown, he may not have been the "father of soul" if he drove a
T3, but I think he might just be "der Vater des
fahrvergnugen" if he did.
Cheers!
